COPOCO Community Credit Union Members Approve Merger with ELGA Credit Union
Grand Blanc, Michigan and Bay City, Michigan – ELGA Credit Union is proud to announce that the COPOCO Community Credit Union members, based in Bay City, MI, resoundingly approved the merger between the two organizations. Approval was received via mail-in ballots and in-person voting at a special meeting held on July 21, 2025.
The merger will be completed on August 1, 2025, with full system conversion expected to be completed in Spring 2026. The combined credit union will proudly serve over 108,000 members with 16 branch locations across communities in Michigan, employing more than 300 individuals and managing $1.7 billion in assets.
Both credit unions were founded in 1951 to serve local Consumers Power Company employees and their families. ELGA Credit Union, which has a name rooted in Electric and Gas, and COPOCO, named to honor Consumers Power Company, have grown to serve their communities with headquarters in Grand Blanc, MI, and Bay City, MI.
