Bowling for Big Brothers Big Sisters
On Friday, February 20, 2026, something special happened at Galaxy Bowling Alley. The sound of bowling pins crashing mixed with cheers and high-fives as 138 team members representing ELGA Credit Union gathered for a cause that reaches far beyond the lanes.
The occasion? The 47th Annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake — a longstanding community tradition that brings people together to change young lives for the better.
Teams of four to six bowlers laced up their shoes not just to compete, but to contribute. Each team raised funds to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint, helping sustain the organization’s one-to-one mentoring matches and its impactful Lunch Buddy program. Every dollar raised moves the mission forward: creating meaningful, supportive relationships that help local youth realize their potential.
The need has never been clearer. Right now, approximately 451 “Littles” in the community are waiting to be matched with a mentor. That’s 451 young people hoping for someone to listen, encourage, and show up consistently in their lives. Events like Bowl for Kids’ Sake help ensure those matches can happen.
What makes this event so powerful isn’t just the fundraising totals — it’s the energy in the room. It’s coworkers becoming teammates for a cause. It’s friendly competition fueled by a shared purpose. It’s a community rallying around its youth and saying, You matter.
Mentoring is more than just spending time together. It builds confidence. It expands possibilities. It empowers the next generation to dream bigger and aim higher. When local businesses like ELGA Credit Union show up 138 strong, they’re doing more than knocking down pins — they’re helping build brighter futures.
Because sometimes, the biggest strikes happen off the lanes.
