XpressLink® is a secure web application that provides ELGA members the ability to manage their accounts and pay bills from the Internet. Connections to XpressLink® uses RC4 128 bit encryption with the use of a Verisign certificate. XpressLink requires the use of temporary cookies which may require that they be allowed on your Internet browser. This mostly became an issue with the release of Service Pack 2 of Windows XP. Cookies are text files that get stored on your computers hard drive to track items that can be retrieved later. To prevent problems using XpressLink® the following settings should be made to your Internet browser. XpressLink supports most common browsers. XpressLink Security Card Cloning Exploit Attempt:
When you log into XpressLink, please be aware that we will NEVER ask you to provide your card number, the security code, expiration number and ATM PIN to verify your account.
If you are asked for this information, please call us immediately or send an email to abuse@elgacu.com. DO NOT log into XpressLink until we have helped you resolve the exploit.

New Phishing Attempts: people are reporting that they were contacted regarding possible fraud on their debit card. They were prompted to call back at 877-395-2069 or go to 8773952069@wcu.mobile.
Upon calling the 877 number, they are asked for their 16 digit card numbers and social security number.
Please be careful this Holiday Season and remember that ELGA will never ask for this type of information over the phone, in email, or text.

ALERT: Phone Text Message Scam Appears to be from Credit Union.
A text message is circulating making reference to a debit card that has been cancelled or suspended and advising you to reactivate by calling a specific number.
Please do not respond to this message, as it is not from ELGA Credit Union.

Recently a large credit card and debit card processor had a significant security breach. A number of consumer credit and debit cards could be at risk. Please be aware this breach is in NO WAY related to any exposure by ELGA Credit Union. We take the safety and security of ALL member information very seriously and utilize state of the art measures to ensure data security.
Please Note: This event affected Visa Debit and Credit cards. If your card number was provided to us by Visa as being used at a merchant who processed with Heartland Payment Systems, you will be receiving a phone call and letter from ELGA Credit Union, followed by a new card, with a new card number.
ELGA Credit Union members have consumer protection and 0% liability against fraudulent activity reported in a timely manner. Please monitor your card activity and report any fraudulent charges as soon as possible. If you have online access, you can go to http://www.EZcardinfo.com to see your activity.

Phishing or Vishing (Phone Scam Alert)
A fraudulent e-mail seeking credit card information (known as a "phishing fraud") has been circulating nationwide since 2 p.m. EST today. This fraudulent phishing email appears to be from NCUA and contains a link purportedly to obtain a subscription for the NCUA Express Subscription service. When that link is used, the recipient is directed to a "clone" of the NCUA Express Service site that seeks credit card information from those to whom the phish was sent. If you receive such an email, please ignore it, as it is fraudulent. The NCUA does NOT charge for the Express Subscription service and does NOT solicit credit card information over the Internet. If you have questions or comments, please contact the NCUA Fraud Hotline at 800-827-9650 or, during off duty hours, at 703-728-0700.
A similar issue has been reported as text messages to cell phones.

Bank Fund Staff FCU has notified CUISPA of a phone and SMS phishing attack that is in progress, representing Bank Fund Staff CU as the issuer. At least 4 other credit unions in the north east are being misrepresented as well.
The smishes are being distributed by phone and text message.
The SMS message are similar to, "This is an automated message from Bank-Fund Staff F.C.U. .Your ATM card has been suspended. To reactivate call 1-410-910-0787. The voice message caller ID's are coming from Florida, Ohio, Texas, and Maryland.
The voice messages are also automated suggesting that the Bank Fund Staff account holder's account has been suspended and requesting the listener to press 1 for more information.
Pressing 1 transfers to a request for the account number, PIN, authorization code, etc.
The SMS message ID is coming from number 5000, not providing an actual return number.

Phishing or Vishing (Phone Scam Alert)
The phone scam that appeared in our area early last week appears to be back.
Please do not respond or give out any account information to any phone calls you may receive stating that your debit card may have been compromised.
Common sense is the best form of defense with any type of scam. If you are contacted by a company you do business with and are asked for your personal information, thank them for alerting you to the problem, hang up immediately, and then call the customer service number listed on the back of your credit card or on other verifiably genuine correspondence. If there is an actual problem, it can then easily be resolved, however if you were targeted in a vishing attempt, your information will stay secure and the institution being spoofed will now be aware that their customers are being scammed.

PHISHING SCHEME ALERT - Immediate Attention Required
A NEW PHISHING SCHEME HAS EMERGED. Please do not respond or give out any account information to any phone calls you may receive stating that your debit card may have been compromised.
This new phishing scheme attempts to capture card numbers with an automated telephone service or a text message. The message indicates that your debit card may have been compromised and has been placed on a hold status. In order to activate the card, the message may or may not ask you to call another phone number and enter your 16-digit card number and PIN.
To protect your accounts, we suggest that you do not give your account information to anyone. ELGA will never contact you requesting you to verify your account information.

PHISHING SCHEME ALERT Immediate Attention Required:
DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY EMAIL MESSAGES ASKING FOR LOGIN OR ACCOUNT INFORMATION even if you see the ELGA Credit Union LOGO. We have received reports that there is a circulation of email "Fraudulently Asking for your Login and Account number information" and posing to reward with $100 for doing so.
DO NOT RESPOND, DO NOT LOGIN.
WE are taking action, and reporting to Authorities this Information and attempting to track it's source. THIS is a typical Phising Scam, and we have determined it is coming out of spoofed resources via the Internet. - Employees or retirees of Consumers Energy Company working or living in the Counties of Genesee, Lapeer, Sanilac and Shiawassee.
- Members of the Building Trades AFL-CIO.
- Any person over the age of 55 who receives a retirement annuity, pension, social security, or similar retirement payment from private or government sources, and lives in, or belongs to a retirement organization located in Genesee County or in a county contiguous to Genesee County.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means to you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.
Use our Switch Kit to create and mail out the appropriate letters to notify your prior financial institutions of your account change.
